It will take some time for them to get you into the system but the animals need you!
This organization funds all of the good things the pets need!
Underweight dogs suffering from extreme kennel stress for months is typical for dogs at AWD. Cheeto was so shut down after many months, he had to be carried to meet his merciful adopter.
The buidlings in both locations are infested with mice, roaches and birds. There is feces from these animals everywhere, even on the dogs! We need a modern facility to help keep our pets healthy!
The heating and cooling systems do not work properly at either shelter location and have not for years. The shelter is often in violation of the city's HEART Ordinance that requires comfortable temperatures for animals being housed in a kennel situation.
Water standing in drain. This is a large health hazard to staff who work with animals.
The kennels themselves are outdated and crumbling. The guillotine doors are often in disrepair and the staff cannot close a dog outside if needed for safety.
